About Danny
Every Story Has an Author. This Is Mine.
My name is Danny Horner, and for much of my life, I never imagined I'd become an author.
I grew up searching for where I belonged. That search eventually led me into the streets and, later, to prison, where I spent much of my adult life. Looking back, I can see how those experiences changed the way I understand people, choices, addiction, resilience, and second chances.
Prison gave me something I never expected: time to reflect, learn, and create. It was there that I taught myself to draw, discovering that creativity could become more than an escape—it could become a new direction for my life.
Today, I continue that journey through writing.
My books include memoirs inspired by my life, fiction shaped by the people and experiences I've encountered, and, in the future, art books and other creative projects. No matter the genre, every book begins with something real.
I'm also transparent about my process. I use AI as a creative partner to help organize ideas, ask better questions, and shape my writing, but the memories, experiences, emotions, and lessons come from my own life.
My goal isn't to glorify the past.
It's to understand it.
If my stories help someone feel less alone, see another perspective, understand addiction differently, or believe that change is possible, then sharing them has been worth it.
Thank you for being here.
I hope you enjoy the journey.

Portrait Art by Danny Horner
Before I started writing my story, I spent years teaching myself how to draw realistic portraits.
I learned with pencil and paper while incarcerated, and that skill became one of the things that helped me rebuild my life.
Today, I create custom portraits and memorial artwork for families who want something personal, emotional, and lasting.
